UK to withdraw old £5 note from circulation on May 5 | Bangkok Post: news


The Bank of England has announced the withdrawal of the old paper £5 banknotes from circulation on May 5, replaced by the new polymer notes put into circulation in September 2016The old 5-pound note will be withdrawn from May 5. According to its website, the bank said only the polymer £5 note featuring Sir Winston Churchill will be legal tender after May 5. Until then, the public can continue spending the older "fiver" , which features a portrait of Elizabeth Fry. From May 5, people can exchange any of the old notes they may still have for the new ones at the Bank of England in person, or by post.
